2026 Honda Passport
Maintenance Schedule

You didn't buy a 2026 Honda Passport to sit in the garage. Whether you are towing a boat to Lake Pat Cleburne or exploring the trails in the Hill Country, your SUV is working harder than the average commuter car.
At Burleson Honda, we define "normal" driving differently than the manual. In Texas heat and traffic, your Passport falls under the "Severe Duty" maintenance schedule. This guide breaks down exactly when to service your new 10-speed transmission, change your oil, and rotate those all-terrain tires to ensure your Passport lasts for 200,000 miles.
The "Honda Service Pass" (First 2 Years)
Your new 2026 Passport comes with the Honda Service Pass, which covers eligible factory-scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles.
- What's Included: Engine oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections.
- The Catch: It relies on the Maintenance Minder™ light. However, if you are towing or off-roading, you may need to service before the light comes on.
Critical "Severe Duty" Schedule
For Burleson drivers, we recommend the following intervals to combat heat and dust:
Every 5,000 Miles (The "Health Check")
- Engine Oil: The 3.5L V6 requires 5.8 quarts of 0W-20 Full Synthetic.
- Note: The capacity has increased slightly from previous generations. Do not underfill.
- Tire Rotation: Critical for TrailSport models with General Grabber™ tires. Knobby tires will cup and roar if not rotated strictly every 5k miles.
Every 15,000 Miles (The "Dust Defense")
- Rear Differential Fluid: The i-VTM4™ system is complex. It uses clutches to vector torque. Dirty fluid causes "binding" (a groaning noise in tight turns).
- Fluid Type: Honda Dual Pump Fluid II (Do not use generic gear oil).
- Air Filters: Replaces Engine and Cabin air filters. (Texas dust clogs these rapidly).
Every 30,000 Miles (The "10-Speed" Service)
- Transmission Fluid: The 2026 Passport uses the new 10-Speed Automatic.
- CRITICAL WARNING: This transmission requires Honda ATF Type 2.0.
- Do NOT Use: Honda ATF Type 3.1 (used in the old 9-speed) or generic "Universal" ATF. Using the wrong fluid will damage the internal clutches.

Why Service at Burleson Honda?
The 2026 Passport is technologically dense.
- The TrailWatch™ Calibration: If you replace your windshield or front bumper, the off-road cameras must be recalibrated using the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS).
- Software Updates: The 10-speed transmission often receives software patches to improve shift smoothness, updates that independent shops cannot perform.
